A three-day trip to the heart of the French Massif Central, where you’ll experience the atmosphere of 1960s racing as you drive the legendary historic single-seater Formula Ford Crosslé! You will spend one day on the iconic Charade race circuit. The moment you enter the pit-lane lounge, you will be immersed in an authentic vintage atmosphere: you will suit up in historic racing overalls and, accompanied by early Rolling Stones and Beatles tracks, take your seat behind the wheel of a historic formula car!
EVENT IN BRIEF
A three-day trip in the heart of the Massif Central in France, where you will discover the world’s first time travel machine and experience 60s racing memorabilia piloting a legendary vintage single seater Formula Ford Crosslé! You will be driving intensively during one and half days on a legendary racetrack and will be embraced by the authentic vintage atmosphere as soon as you enter the pitlane lounge, get dressed in the vintage FIA suits and be rocked by the sound of the Stones and Beatles!
7 x 20 MINUTES BEHIND THE WHEEL
Over the course of a day and a half, you will take part in intensive training and driving sessions in a 1960s Formula Ford Crosslé. During training you can cover up to 200 kilometers on the circuit. The Formula Ford delivers 110 horsepower at a weight of 420 kg and is equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox. The training is designed for both beginners and more experienced drivers.
DRIVING AN AUTHENTIC VINTAGE FORMULA FORD
Within a single day you will get an intensive training in a Formula Ford Crosslé. You will be taming the Formula equipped with a 110hp Ford engine for 420 kg, coupled with a 4- speed manual gearbox driving 260 kilometres per hour while offering incomparable driving sensations and ease of use for both amateur and experienced drivers.
RACE CIRCUIT CHARADE
This iconic, 4-kilometer-long racing track, which hosted the French Grand Prix in 1965, 1969, 1970, and 1972, is the only race circuit in France located in the highlands — and Sir Stirling Moss called it “the most beautiful track in the world.”
Many of you may also know Charade from the Tour de France cycling race. In the 2025 edition, one of the stages ran directly through part of the Charade circuit.
BACK IN TIME EXPERIENCE
The whole environment dates back to 60’s and 70’s. Racing overalls, helmets, pit box equipment it all will take you back in time and grand authentic and memorable atmosphere.
DAY-BY-DAY PROGRAMME
DAY 1
Arrival in Clermont Ferrand Airport.
Transfer to the Radio Hotel.
3 course dinner with paired wines at the 1* gourmet restaurant of the Radio Hotel.
Overnight accommodation in the 4* Radio Hotel.
DAY 2
7:45 Arrival at track, breakfast and changing into driving equipment.
8:30 Briefing by our instructors.
9:00 Single seater driving – 100 km (4 sessions) per person during the morning.
12:00 Lunch on the track.
14:00 Single seater driving – 100 km (3 sessions) per person during the afternoon.
18:00 End of the day Champagne, appetisers.
20:00 3 course dinner with paired wines at the 1* gourmet restaurant of the Radio Hotel.
Overnight accommodation in the 4* Radio Hotel.
DAY 3
Transfer to the Clermont Ferrand Airport based on your flight schedule.
EXQUISITE CUISINE
The experience includes two nights at the Art Deco Hotel Radio, located just a short distance from the race circuit. The hotel itself features a Michelin-starred restaurant, where you can look forward to exquisite cuisine from chef Wilfrid Chaplain, who blends the flavours of his native Normandy with those of his adopted region, Auvergne. Traditional French dishes are complemented by carefully paired local wines.
ART DECO ACCOMMODATION STYLE
From the heights of the town, this fine hotel dating from the 1930s broadcasts a non-stop resounding tribute to electromagnetic waves and the triode vacuum tube that made possible the invention of the talkies and the wireless. Its trendy Art Deco decor has as much impact as it did on the day it opened, with its mosaic flooring, decorative wrought iron and marriage of glass and mirrors. This beautiful hotel will be your home for two nights.
