Golf, culture, and history in Southeast Asia
This golf tour of Southeast Asia will reveal the best golf courses, cultural attractions, and historical sites in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Bangkok is the most visited city in the world and combines world-class golf with Thai culture and hospitality. Siem Reap, Cambodia is home to the 1,000-year-old Angkor Wat Temple complex and Cambodia’s most important golf courses. Next is Danang, home to Vietnam’s coastal golf, historical sites, and one of Asia’s best beaches. The final location of the tour is Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. After playing golf on Hanoi’s top courses and learning about Vietnamese culture, the tour ends with a cruise on Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s spectacular wonders.

DAY 1: BANGKOK ARRIVAL
Welcome to Bangkok: City of Angels and Land of Smiles. Bangkok is a city of immeasurable delights: excellent golf courses, beautiful temples and palaces, bargain shopping, world-class restaurants and hotels. Arrival at Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi), after being welcomed, you will be transported to your hotel in Bangkok.

DAY 2: BANGKOK
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, golfers will be transported to Royal Gems Golf City and non-golfers will take a trip to the Jim Thomson Museum.
ROYAL GEMS GOLF CITY
Royal Gems Golf City is Asia’s first replica course, combining iconic courses from around the world with the latest nine holes from Augusta National. Your first step could take you not only to courses you’ve never played, but to courses you’ve always wanted to play. Imagine teeing off at Oakmont’s #3 with the famous Church Pew bunkers on your left. Then recreate the famous green section of Sawgrass’s 17th hole. Move on to the Road Hole at St. Andrews. The last nine holes at Augusta National, including Amen Corner, await you. Yes, it’s true, all the famous holes are coming to Bangkok in the dreamlike Royal Gems Golf City! You will return to your hotel after golf.
JIM THOMPSON HOUSE & MUSEUM
Those who do not play golf will go on an excursion to Jim Thomson House & Museum, which includes one of the best-preserved Thai houses in Bangkok, built by the American famous for reviving the Thai silk industry and containing numerous artifacts and antiques from Thompson’s travels in Asia. After the excursion, you will return to the hotel.

DAY 3: BANGKOK
Breakfast, Lunch
After breakfast at the hotel, set off on the Best of Bangkok tour. Head to Rattanakosin Island, the birthplace of Bangkok over 200 years ago. Then visit the Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha, and the royal residences. Next, visit Wat Phra Kaeo, the most beautiful and important Buddhist temple in Thailand. Once inside the temple, you will feel as if you are in a true “city of angels.” Head to the Thonburi canals and take a motorboat ride along the Chao Phraya River to see Thai life along the riverbanks. After the boat stops for lunch, the Ratchadumnoen Road (Royal Road) tour follows. Along the way, you can see many magnificent temples and architectural buildings, including the City Pillar Shrine, Democracy Monument, Anantasamakhom Palace, and the King’s residence. After the tour, you will return to the hotel.

DAY 4: BANGKOK
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, golfers will be transported to the Alpine Golf & Sports Club, and non-golfers will enjoy a traditional Thai massage treatment.
ALPINE GOLF & SPORTS CLUB
Alpine Golf & Sports Club is one of the highest-rated courses in Thailand. Designed by American architect Ronald Garl, it was the venue for the 2000 Johnnie Walker Classic, won by Tiger Woods, and hosted the same event again in 2004. The 18 holes at Alpine Golf make up the best layout and most challenging golf course in Bangkok. In addition to the superb routing of the holes, the maintenance of this exclusive golf club is of the highest standard and features super-fast greens and undulating fairways. The club’s facilities, locker rooms, and restaurants are all excellent, with service to match. You will return to the hotel after golf.
TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE
Those who do not play golf will have a relaxing day with a traditional Thai massage.

DAY 5: BANGKOK TO SIEM REAP
Breakfast
After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to Bangkok Airport for a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Welcome to Cambodia! Siem Reap is a small former French colonial town that was mainly visited to see the 1,000-year-old cradle of Khmer civilization and the temples of Angkor Wat. With the temples of Angkor Wat nearby, Siem Reap is also proving to be one of the best undiscovered golf destinations. Arrival at Siem Reap Airport and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a relaxing day exploring and strolling around Siem Reap on your own.

DAY 6: SIEM REAP
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, golfers will be transported to Phokeethra Country Club, and non-golfers will go on an excursion to Lake Tongle Sap.

PHOKEETHRA COUNTRY CLUB
Phokeethra Country Club, host of the Cambodian Open and Johnnie Walker Classic, was the first international standard golf course in Siem Reap. A combination of modern grasses gives the golf course its rich green color and ensures high standards of course conditions throughout the year. Natural lagoons, undulating greens, and bunker complexes run through the course to challenge golfers’ skills. You will return to the hotel after golf.

TONLE SAP LAKE EXCURSION
Those who don’t play golf will visit Tonle Sap Lake and explore the area’s unique floating villages and fishing communities by boat. It is a massive freshwater lake that dominates Cambodia. The floating villages dot the semi-submerged forest that covers the edge of the lake—an excellent piece of rural Cambodia and a rich ecosystem that supports hundreds of fishing communities and abundant bird life. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel.

DAY 7: SIEM REAP
Breakfast, Lunch
Today will be one of the most important moments of the trip. After breakfast, you will visit the jewel in the crown of Khmer architecture, the sixth man-made wonder and the largest religious monument in the world, the Angkor Wat temple complex. The structure is a national symbol and the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples, Angkor impresses tourists with its size and beautifully proportioned appearance, as well as the delicate artistry of its sculptures. To approach the temple, first cross the vast moat, continuing along a wide paved road. When you enter the main building, climb through a series of galleries and courtyards before reaching the central sanctuary, which offers beautiful views across the road and the surrounding villages.
The next stop is the fortified city of Angkor Thom. Surrounded by a wall and wide moats, the city includes many of Angkor’s most popular tourist attractions. Enter through the monumental south gate, along a paved road lined on each side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant sea creature. Visit the Royal Chamber and Phimeanakas before continuing on to the mysterious Bayon Temple. In this temple, one of the most popular and fascinating in Angkor, explore the galleries of beautifully preserved sculptures and climb narrow staircases to reach the central sanctuary, where you will find giant stone faces smiling enigmatically down from every angle. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
The last stop of the day is Ta Prohm, one of the most popular attractions in Angkor due to the temple looking very much as most Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first discovered them. After visiting the massive complex, you will return to your hotel.

DAY 8: SIEM REAP TO DANANG
Breakfast
After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, head to Angkor Golf Resort, designed by Nick Faldo. Six-time major winner Nick Faldo himself opened the golf course in December 2007. The course requires thought and strategy for each hole if you want to score well. For example, the strategically placed bunkers and water hazards are difficult but easy to see from each tee area. The greens have lots of subtle undulations and reward and encourage a variety of approach shots. The various teeing areas allow all golfers to choose the right length of course for their game. After golf, you will be transferred back to the hotel.
Then you will head to Siem Reap Airport for a short 1-hour flight to Danang, Vietnam. Welcome to Vietnam! Danang was the site of the first landing of US forces in Vietnam when it was given the name “China Beach.” Today, the same area is home to one of Asia’s best beaches, rich cultural and historical landscapes, and Vietnam’s best golf course. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening on your own!

DAY 9: DANANG
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, golfers will transfer to Montgomerie Links Vietnam, Colin Montgomerie’s only Asian creation. Non-golfers will go to one of the most renowned cooking schools in the area.

MONTGOMERIE LINKS VIETNAM
The Montgomerie Links location has stunning beach scenery, creating the perfect backdrop for this links-style course. Boldly sweeping over Casuarina pines and dunes, Montgomerie Links Vietnam gives you the feeling of being in Scotland without the cold temperatures you find in the British Isles! The golf course takes advantage of its proximity to the Marble Mountains. After golf, transfer back to your hotel for a relaxing afternoon on the beach or by the pool.

HOI AN COOKING CLASS
Those who don’t play golf will head to one of Hoi An’s most famous cooking schools to learn the art of Vietnamese cuisine. This fun-filled demonstration class is great for experts and novices alike. Learn how to make traditional Vietnamese dishes, including fresh spring rolls, rice paper, and healthy Vietnamese salads. After the class, enjoy the “fruits of your labor” along with a Vietnamese meal prepared by professionals. After the class, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

DAY 10: DANANG & HOI AN
Breakfast, Dinner
After breakfast and a day at the beach, visit the UNESCO World Heritage village of Hoi An. Built on the banks of the Thu Bon River, Hoi An used to be a 10th-century maritime port, and parts of the town still look like they did centuries ago. With its narrow streets and quirky mix of architecture, picturesque Hoi An is a favorite of many tourists, including old houses, Chinese pagodas, the famous Temple on the Bridge, and many fine craft centers. In the evening, you can try three of the best restaurants in Hoi An on the “Taste of Hoi An” tour, which includes cocktails, appetizers, tapas tasting, main course, and dessert.

DAY 11: DANANG TO HANOI
Breakfast
After breakfast and checking out of your hotel room, you will be transferred to BRG Danang Golf Resort. Reminiscent of true Scottish links golf, Australia’s Great White Shark Greg Norman has created what is arguably Vietnam’s finest golf course. Built on the sandy soil of China Beach, the fairways are generous and water is used sparingly. However, shots must be carefully placed to give players the chance to avoid the complex bunkers that protect the undulating greens.
After golf, you will head to Danang Airport. You will depart for Hanoi for the next stop on your guided tour. Arrival at Hanoi Airport and transfer to your hotel. Welcome to Hanoi! Immerse yourself in history, tradition, and legend in a capital city that has been continuously inhabited for nearly a millennium. Tourists often note that the city is quieter, greener, and cooler than other major cities in Asia.

DAY 12: HANOI
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, golfers will depart for Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club, one of the best golf clubs in Hanoi. Non-golfers will enjoy a Best of Hanoi sightseeing tour.

SKY LAKE RESORT & GOLF CLUB
Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club’s awards include Vietnam’s best championship course and one of Vietnam’s top five courses. It is the only golf club in Hanoi to receive such recognition. The panoramic view over the surrounding farmland can be admired from the club and from many points along the course itself. The natural Vietnamese jungle surrounds the location. International management maintains the course’s conditions and facilities, which are functional throughout the year.

BEST OF HANOI TOUR
Those who do not play golf will travel to visit the famous old quarter by tuk-tuk, the Museum of Ethnology, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the “Hanoi Hilton” (POW prison), the John McCain Memorial House, and a water puppet show. After the tour, return to your hotel where you will be free to explore Hanoi on your own in the evening.

DAY 13: HANOI TO HA LONG BAY
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast and checking out of your room, you will travel to Ha Long Bay. In 1991, a scene from the French film Indochine was filmed in the Gulf. The film was about the life of a woman who lived in Vietnam under French rule from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century. Ha Long, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers 1,500 square kilometers and is part of the Gulf of Tonkin in the South China Sea. Ha Long Bay has nearly 2,000 limestone islands and islets. Sail and stay on a luxurious replica of an old ship, with all meals and gourmet cuisine included.
